Our Story
Born from a
Higher Standard
“We didn’t set out to build another gun company. We set out to build the pistol the industry kept almost making.”
Cardinal Arms was founded in Mooresville, North Carolina by a team of gunsmiths and competitive shooters who had spent decades watching the 2011 platform get compromised — production shortcuts, spec tolerances set for margins rather than performance, hand-fitting replaced by tolerance stacking.
The decision was simple: build it the right way, in the right place, one at a time. No production runs, no SKU proliferation. Two models, built to a single standard, by people who shoot what they build.
Mooresville is a precision manufacturing town. It’s where NASCAR teams build race engines to thousandths of an inch. It’s where we fit frames and slides. That’s not a coincidence.
The Cardinal Standard
“You may not know our name just yet — but you know our guns. The kind that, once you fire it, it owns you.”
— Cardinal Arms, Mooresville NC
01
No Compromises on Material
4140 chromoly steel. Not because it’s the cheapest option — it isn’t — but because it machines the way it should and holds the tolerances we require for the service life we expect.
02
Hand Fitted. Every One.
Frame to slide. Barrel to bushing. Every clearance and surface engagement is checked, adjusted, and re-checked by a gunsmith. There is no other way to achieve what we achieve.
03
We Shoot What We Build
Every Cardinal Arms pistol is function-fired before it ships. If we wouldn’t carry it, it doesn’t leave the shop. Our name is on it — that means something to us.
The Workshop
Where It
Gets Built
Our shop in Mooresville, NC is purpose-built for precision small-batch manufacturing. CNC machining centers, hand-fitting benches, and a function-fire range — all under one roof.
What We Stand For
The Cardinal
Principles
Every decision we make in the shop — from material selection to final function-fire — runs through the same filter: does this meet the standard?
01
Craft Over Volume
We will never chase production numbers. One gun built right is worth more to us — and to you — than a hundred built fast. The moment we start scaling, we start compromising. We don’t scale.
02
Transparency of Process
Every customer who buys a Cardinal Arms pistol knows exactly what they’re buying and why it costs what it costs. We don’t hide behind marketing language. Steel, specs, and hands-on time — that’s the price.
03
American Manufacturing
Designed, machined, assembled, and tested in Mooresville, NC. Not assembled domestically from imported components — built here, from here, by people who live here. That’s the only way we do it.
04
Duty to the Platform
The 2011 platform deserves to be represented at its highest level. It’s a design that’s been compromised by shortcuts for too long. We build toward its ceiling — not its floor.
05
Accountability to the End User
We answer our own email. We stand behind every pistol we ship. If something isn’t right, we make it right. Small team means direct accountability — there’s no customer service department to hide behind.
06
The Long Game
We’re not building Cardinal Arms to flip it. We’re building something that should still be here in 30 years, with a reputation built one pistol at a time. Every gun we ship either builds that reputation or costs it.

The Road Here
How We Got
to This Point
2020
Concept Begins
After years of competitive shooting and custom builds, the founder begins design work on what will become the G2 platform — prioritizing hand-fit tolerances above all else.
2021
Prototype Development
First G2 prototypes machined and fitted. Extensive live-fire testing through 2021 — over 10,000 rounds across multiple configurations before the platform is locked.
2022
Mooresville Shop Opens
Cardinal Arms establishes its workshop in Mooresville, NC. CNC machining capability comes in-house. The team grows to three full-time gunsmiths and machinists.
2023
G2 Ported Development
Competitive shooter feedback drives development of the ported and compensated variant. Integral compensator system tested extensively in USPSA and PCC competition environments.
2024
Cardinal Arms Launches
Cardinal Arms officially opens to the public. The G2 Pistol and G2 Ported — two models, one standard, built one at a time in Mooresville, North Carolina.

“Mooresville is a precision town. The same discipline that goes into a race engine goes into every pistol we build.”
We chose Mooresville deliberately. It’s a community with deep roots in precision manufacturing — a workforce that understands tolerances, processes, and what it means to build something that cannot fail when it matters.
Our shop is not open to the public, but we welcome dealer inquiries and are happy to arrange tours for serious buyers. If you want to see where your pistol gets built before you order one, reach out.
